VOLUNTEER

GETTING INVOLVED IS EASY

Pedal It Forward NWA performs its mission through a force of volunteer bike mechanics. Many of our mechanics are retirees, business people, cycling enthusiasts, and others who have a passion for our mission.  If this sounds like you, we need your help!

HOW IT WORKS

Volunteering is easy. Just show up during our shop hours, sign a waiver, and let the repairs begin.

Don’t know how to fix a bike? There are multiple jobs you can do at our shop. We sometimes need help sorting bike parts or loading and delivering bikes to our Pedal Partners. If you want to volunteer, we will find a place for you!

VOLUNTEER HOURS

Donations - experience finding bikes, funds, help...
Drivers - willing to pickup or drop off bikes

What To Expect

We try to keep our shops as low-stress environments where volunteers can come to fix bikes at their own pace. We don’t have quotas or make production demands. We do, however, expect volunteers to be diligent about their work and respectful of others while they are in the shop. Volunteers who violate this policy will be asked to leave. The only real requirement is that we ask all volunteers fill out some personal information and sign a waiver before they begin.

Generally, our shops are not the best place for young children. Teenagers who are accompanied by an adult are welcome to join us. We do our best to accommodate volunteers with disabilities, but obviously, bike repair work does require some lifting, turning wrenches, operating hand tools. We welcome groups of volunteers and ask that you schedule your sessions with our Operations Manager.

Volunteer FAQs

How do I volunteer?

Volunteering is easy! Just show up during our shop hours, sign a waiver, and let the repairs begin. We're open on Monday evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. - Noon.

Can large groups volunteer together?

Our shops can accommodate up to seven volunteer bike mechanics at one time. If your group is larger than seven, we can explore other options, including helping with deliveries, splitting your group into different shifts, helping with other needs in the shop, etc. Send us a note through our contact page or reach out to our Operations Manager directly at don.pedal4ward@gmail.com to make special arrangements for your group.

Is there an age requirement to volunteer?

Generally, our shops are not the best place for young children. Teenagers who are accompanied by an adult are welcome to join us in volunteering at the shops.  Volunteers are required to complete a Release Form.  Anyone under age must have an authorized adult sign their Release Form.

GROUPS & TEAM BUILDING

Volunteering as a group is not only great for team building, but also helps programs like ours. We rely on volunteers to help repair bikes and get them rolling out to those in need.  So if you have a church group, community group, business group, or group of philanthropic friends, we welcome you!

Our shops can accommodate up to eight volunteer bike mechanics at one time. If your group is larger than eight, we can still explore other options, including helping with deliveries, splitting your group into different shifts, or helping with other needs in the shop.

Contact our Operations Manager to work out the details!

Good group of people giving back to the community! Highly recommend checking it out.
